My running wish list.

I am in some major need for some new running and fitness gear.
I need to get fitted for some good running shoes. My mom has arthritis in her knees and that got me thinking I better start looking after my knees and running in crappy runners in not the way to go.

I also want them to look super cute. These guys fit the bill as far as I'm concerned  And I'm hoping that in some mad fit the hubs sees this post he'll "surprise" me with something on my list.

The Nike Pegasus. The fact that it called Pegasus and I love horses is also a huge bonus for me. I think I could run super quick in those amazing purple ones.

I totally fell in love with these cute running skirts that Molly and Rachel wore when they ran the DC half this past weekend. I might have to find a version over this side of the pond when I start running better times. Something to look forward to.

Jen over at Boys will be Boys sent this cute workout top to Jen over at A Daily Dose of Davis and I may have to get this printed on a shirt soon. I'm starting a 30 day squat challenge and this is perfect for it.

Thats it for now. I hope the hubs reads this when it's left open on the ipad by mistake.

Happy Monday peeps!

Health and Fitness Friday : My 5k

It's that time again!

Fitness

It's been 3 weeks since my first 5k run but it's only now I'm writing about it.
It was amazing.
I can't believe I finished it.

Me and my Mom on race day.

There were over 800 men, women and children at the run. I was a bit nervous because I could have got in more training before the race but life and kids got in the way. The course was tough and had some hills. One of them was called "Cardiac Hill". It was a tough course for my first 5k but I finished it.

I made some mistakes that I said I wouldn't do. I started out way too fast. I nearly didn't make the first mile mark. I had to stop and get my breath back. Steady myself. When I did get my shit in gear I was doing ok until I got to the bottom of Cardiac Hill. That hill was like trying to go up the wall of the house. No way I could run up there so I walked like everybody else did. Once I got to the top of the hill it was all down hill from there. I got a good pace going and my breathing was good.

At the bottom of Cardiac Hill.

When I turned into the finish line I got overwhelmed. I could feel tears building up. I had finished it. I was done. I was so proud of myself. My time was 35.04. Not too bad considering the course.

Health

My health is gone down hill since the race. I got the Mother of all flu's and it kicked my ass for 3 weeks.
I couldn't shake it!
I have missed all my classes since then too and I miss them.
I'm hoping to get back on track next week and start a new workout program.
Beach Body Bootcamp here I come.

I'm linking back up with Jen over at A Daily Dose of Davis.

Happy Friday!

I'm Back!!

I'm Back!
Oh how I've missed this little part of the world.

Where do I begin?
First my laptop decided to have a little bit of a hissy fit and die. DIE i tell you. I felt like a part of me was missing for a while. I had so much time to do stuff when it was gone. Which means I was spending way too much time reading some amazing blogs and scouring Pinterest. Tut tut!!

But I missed blogging. I missed connecting with people from all over the world and reading about their families who I have grown to love. I missed my fitness buddies and the motivation that they gave mt to continue with my training.

If the laptop dying wasn't enough, I get the mother of all flu's. It kicked my ass for 3 weeks and I could function with it. I never get the flu. Maybe a little cough and sniffles but never the flu. I think this must have been 5 years worth of flu wrapped up in one and it was going to kick my ass.

But I'm better and I'm back and I'm going to make this little part of my world better than ever... without sitting in front of the laptop all the time. Ha!

Check back tomorrow for my 5k story. It's long over due and I can't wait to talk about it and reconnect with my Health and Fitness buddies.

It feels good to be back.
